Group Assignment 1
Form groups of at least 3 students. Work together to solve as many of the Problems Plus problems as you can from Chapters 7 and 8.
You must write your solutions to the problem neatly and completely, explaining all relevant steps and pertinent reasoning. Unlike last semester, problems which are not cleanly presented will not be graded.
For a group of 3 students, each problem solved will be worth a total of 1% of your final grade. You are expected to solve at least 5 problems, but additional problems that you successfully complete will count as extra credit.
Larger groups will earn proportionately less per question answered. For example, a group of 4 will earn 0.75% per question answered, a group of 5 will earn 0.6% per question answered, and a group of 6 will earn 0.5% per question answered. So a group of 6 students will be expected to complete at least 10 questions. This removes any advantage which larger groups of students have.
All students in a group will be given equal credit for the assignment, so make sure that you distribute work evenly.
All work must be done by your group alone. Please do not discuss your solutions with other groups. Copying the work of others and claiming credit for it as yours is plagiarism, which is serious academic misconduct and may result in such sanctions as getting no credit for the work in question, expulsion from the honors college, or even expulsion from UNLV.
The assignment is due on Monday, 28th of March.
Group Assignment 2
As group assignment 1, but do problems from the Problems Plus sections in Chapters 10 and 11. The assignment is due on Wednesday, 4th of May.
